The Octopus

I took this photo at a seafood restaurant in Wando, a county in Cheolla province (5-6 hour drive from Seoul). Funny how they put the octopus in a basin of water to keep it alive just before serving. Yep, they serve it alive, legs squirming and wriggling. This delicacy is called nakji hui or octopus sashimi. It can be served whole or sliced up. I haven't tried this dish for fear that it can get stucked in my throat and I'll choke to death because the suckers are still intact. If ever I'll try this dish, I would absolutely prefer it sliced than whole. A large and moving octopus is freaky in my sight, let alone in my mouth.
