I must admit, I'm feeling a bit down these days. Nothing seems to work out for me. Nobody cares. Nothing fits. A lot of hindrances, snags along the way. I've been bombarded with too much repercussions from the past. It's haunting me. Making me feel L-O-N-E-L-Y.
I'm looking for solace, peace of mind, free from dejection. I'm looking for the essence of my existence. I long to be appreciated. I demand to be understood. I aspire to be accepted. I yearn to be invulnerable so nobody can hurt me anymore.
For all those who hurt me, have been making me feel miserable, continously struggling to bring me down.... All I can say is F*** off!

Se7en's 'Come Back to Me'
Se7en's my favorite singer and I am clearly smitten by the messages of his songs. My favorite is 'Come Back to Me' which I play on a daily basis. Although I sing it in Korean I am greatly impressed by the english traslation... here it goes;

Encounter with the 'Han' kind
There was a time when he ruled the Korean music scene. A time when Bi was totally dominated when it comes to pure talent, popularity, and even performance. I like Se7en and that's a fact. My favorite song is 'Come Back to me' and it has been eternally in repeat-mode in my mp3 player. To put it correctly, I like him A LOT! And I thank him for bringing out the 'korean' in me.
Long time ago, I never thought Koreans can be equally hot as their neighboring countries (maybe because I haven't seen Se7en yet!). My first encounter with the 'Han' kind was at grade school, 2nd grade exactly. Her name was Moon H.J. We were in the same class at Holy Angels Montessori and we happen to be seatmates. I first tasted 'kimbap' thru her mother at one of our lunch breaks. I vividly remeber not liking it and even gathered up the courage to ask 'ajumma' why there's no fish (I really thought it was sushi then...). More followed and the taste became less troublesome for me. During vacation, my father broke the news that their family business isn't doing well and they have to go back to Korea immediately. That was the last time we saw each other.
I thought my encounter with their 'kind' ended when Moon H.J. went back home but little did I know it was just a start of more to come.
I started to begin noticing them ('again') 7 years ago. Ok, I must admit... I partly blame 'hallyu' for it but who cares.
I started watching shows from Arirang TV (usually late at night or early dawn) where I first saw Se7en performing at some random concert, listened to Korean songs (mostly by G.O.D., H.O.T., Shinhwa, SG wannabe and of course Se7en), reading about the country, tasting their food (although the ones I ate a long time ago lacks aunthenticity!!!), even watching Korean cartoons. Then I started meeting Korean people and to my surprise, almost instantly we 'jived'. I began to learn few words and basic sentences even some 'cussing' words.
As fate worked it's way, I travelled to their country the first time but didn't actually experience much other than doing a bit of travelling, drinking at some 'pojjangmajja' in an alley in Seoul, and tasting some dishes but I can't remember much other than that.
A few more visits followed and I began to appreciate the country even more. I like it not just because of the the boybands in some funky costumes doing their thing on TV or concerts, there's a whole lot more than that!

Seeing this picture makes me think two things... this is what Rihanna gets to bang, and what the hell is he wearing?!!! Something tells me gravity probabaly played it's part or it's just a wardrobe-malfunction, as simple as that.
Chris Brown is probably one of the most talented performer out there... and if ever...only if ever he's really starting a trend... I wanna beg him to stay away from that jeans!!!!
For reasons I don't know... whenever I see a pic of him, my head sub-consiously play the song "with you, with you, with you, with you..." over and over again... It just doesn't bother me much though.

Amy Winehouse~~~
I'm sure a lot of people know who Amy Winehouse is... and for the sake of those who don't; she's a multi-grammy award winner, has lots of tats, sporting a beehive, and has a very open battle with addiction ranging from mj, to prescription pills, meth, crack, to cocaine and even heroin. She's a self-proclaimed alcoholic and even sought help early on. The news mentioned that she's also suffering from anorexia/bulimia and has a tendency to self-inflict pain.
I think this girl is very talented and I'm one of those who appreciate her very unique style; a far-cry from pop-star wannabe's that basically sound the same and infiltrates the music industry everywhere... She's a breath of fresh air when you are bummed out of your wits and wanna hear something new. But with all the demons she's fighting, I think she wouldn't live past her 40's or even 30's and she'll be a big loss to the music industry and to those who like and appreciate 'real' and 'unscathed' music like hers.
It doesn't help that she's surrounded with people who just want to exploit and take advantage of her. I was glad to hear that she finally sought intervention to help cure her addictions.. but the news is reporting that she didn't stick to her treatments and finally fell of the wagon to sobriety... not another another 'Lindsay' please... you're way better than that!!!!

Fruit Paradise
When I was younger, I always wonder how the fruits of other countries tasted (ignorance is not a sin!)... I remember liking the peaches in can and I promised myself I'd get to taste that in the future..(the real ones). It turns out, I wasn't too impressed...!
I realized our tropical fruits taste way better than those of other countries. I usually take our fruits for granted and even so seldomly eaten in our household but whenever I'm away from home I surely miss 'em. Our fruits are distinctively unique in appearance especially rambutan, durian, and langka.... It also has the sweetest aroma...(the thing that you can smell when the fruit is riped to perfection which I couldn't find with the others).
The ones I like and are usually and exclusively eaten are mangoes, lychee, rambutan, pomelo, pineapple, bananas
The ones which I hate are chico, chesa (di pa ba to extinct!!!), papaya, dalandan, atis, durian, star-apple, guyabano...
The ones which I like when I was a kid and now I can't find are duhat, santol, macopa, and sampalok~~~~~~ Someone please tell me where I can get these.... 'la lang... to serve my curiosity.... I don't know..
My all time favorite tropical fruit is Rambutan ( Nephelium Lappaceum)... It's sweet and absolutely delish. I saw this at HomePlus in Suwon but they only sell frozen ones.

Summer seems to be Boiling!!!
It's officially SUMMER and I can barfely stand the heat!!! I'm good when the season is cold but I couldn't possibly tolerate the heat~~~
I am very vocal about my uttermost dislike for humidity and heat so I am frequently asked how I could stand living in the PH. The answer is NO, I couldn't stand but I don't have a choice.
At this very minute at several degrees celcius higher from 25, I'm dreaming about being in a cold place, barely standing the bitter cold. I suddenly find myself having an uncontrollable appetite for anything that's cold, iced, or frozen. It's the only way I can stand the heat of this summer that seems to be boiling.
On the verge of perspiration I ponder, just how is it like to be some place in Norway, Greenland, or even Canada....? Already, I'm beginning to feel comfortable just by thinking about it...

Return to Normalcy
Vacation is almost up, time to go back to the place where I should be. Just how does it feel to be leaving Manila again?!
I'm no way nationalistic by nature but I do know how to appreciate my birth country. There are so many things cool about Manila, and I haven't felt that in other countries I visited. If I were to describe Manila in one word, it'll be "CHILL". That's the perfect word for it.
I learned from school that Manila came from the word "Maynilad" or "where there is nilad", a flowering mangrove plant which I haven't seen nor heard of in my entire life! I guess it became extinct, annihilated by the war, or whatever.
Wait, I'm baffled by the fact that I'm from Q.C. and not from Manila. This is a complex I learned during my stay abroad. Foreigners usually know the capital city of PH as Manila and whenever I'm asked where I am from, I gladly reply Manila eventhough I'm from Q.C. because they do not usually know the surrounding cities of Manila. And if I ever mention Q.C., they'd think it's some rural province way outside Manila (had to tell them that it's part of the outskirts of Manila over and over again!!!) and I do not want to be known as the small time, rural girl hailing from the boondocks far away from civilization. I'm not being bashful here but the truth is, when foreign people (esp whites) think about country-side place of the PH, they think of the outbacks, a 'very-rural-under-developed back of beyond' kinda place where cows and water buffalos freely roam the streets.
And why the hell is it so difficult for them to pronounce the word QUEZON!!! I am sparing myself the embarassment of repeatedly saying how Quezon City should be pronounced not to mention telling them that I'm not from "Quezon" the province south-east of Manila and that it's a different place both geographically and economically eventhough it's basically both from Luzon.
For whatever it's worth, I surely love all parts of PH. But eventhough this is my birthplace, it's only good enough to be 'just' a vacation spot for me. With all the crimes, political innuendos, poverty, gap between rich and poor, and immeasurable debt surrounding the country, can people still find hope with everything in between? I don't thinks so.
If I could be a President and If I were to give people a choice as to stay here or go abroad, I think PH will be a ghost town, desolated.
I'm sadden by the fact that I finally gave up hope for my country. I say to myself "Have I forsaken my country?" or "Have I been long forsaken?" It saddens me more that for me, going abroad means going back to normalcy. Going back to a place where I could just be a care-free citizen (though I'm not), earning decently enough for my needs and seeing people with compassion for everyone. I can't remember how long it has been since I last saw/experienced this in my own country,

As much as I hate calling Sandara as 'the Philippine Boa', I hate to admit that she looked cute in the photos and there is some sort of chemistry?! (how should I know?) I'm pertaining to their faces... you know... just by looking at people's faces, you'd feel some sort of chemistry going on between them. An open letter to all Pinoys out there
This open letter was forwarded to me and I think it's worthy to be read by everyone so I posted it here. In this time of political and economic turmoil Gemma (the person who wrote this) is a breath of fresh air. It's nice to know that not all people are complacent about this very critical issue surrounding our country these days. I would like everyone to please take time and read this letter and ponder on what we can do in our own little way to help save our country.
To all Filipinos Everywhere:
I used to think that corruption and criminality in the
Philippines were caused by poverty. But recent events tell me
this isn't true. It is one thing to see people turn into drug
addicts, prostitutes, thieves and murderers because of hunger and
poverty, but what excuse do these rich, educated people have that could possibly explain their bizarre behavior? And to think I was
always so relieved when petty snatchers got caught and locked
away in jail because I never fully realized that the big time
thieves were out there, making the laws and running our country.
Can it get any worse than this?
Every night, I come home and am compelled to turn on my tv to watch the latest turn of events. I am mesmerized by these
characters. They are not men. They are caricatures of men - too
unreal to be believable and too bad to be real. To see these
"honorable" crooks lambast each other, call each one names, look
each other in the eye and accuse the other of committing the very
same crimes that they themselves are guilty of, is so comical and
apalling that I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It is
entertainment at its worst!
I have never seen so many criminals roaming around unfettered and
looking smug until now. These criminals wear suits and barongs,
strut around with the confidence of the rich and famous, inspire
fear and awe from the very citizens who voted them to power, bear titles like "Honorable", "Senator", "Justice", "General" and
worse, "President". Ironically, these lawless individuals
practice law, make our laws, enforce the law. And we wonder why
our policemen act the way they do! These are their leaders, and
the leaders of this nation – Robin Hoodlum and his band of
moneymen. Their motto? "Rob the poor, moderate the greed of the rich."
It makes me wonder where on earth these people came from, and
what kind of upbringing they had to make them act the way they do for all the world to see. It makes me wonder what kind of schools
they went to, what kind of teachers they had, what kind of
environment would produce such creatures who can lie, cheat and
steal from an already indebted country and from the impoverished
people they had vowed to serve. It makes me wonder what their
children and grandchildren think of them, and if they are
breeding a whole new generation of improved Filipino crooks and
liars with maybe a tad more style but equally negligible
conscience. Heaven forbid!
I am an ordinary citizen and taxpayer. I am blessed to have a job
that pays for my needs and those of my family's, even though 30%
of my earnings go to the nation's coffers. Just like others in my
lot, I have complained time and again because our government
could not provide enough of the basic services that I expect and
deserve. Rutty roads, poor educational system, poor social
services, poor health services, poor everything. But I have
always thought that was what all third world countries were all
about, and my complaints never amounted to anything more.
And then this. Scandalous government deals. Plundering presidents
pointing fingers. Senators associated with crooks. Congressmen
who accept bribes. Big time lawyers on the side of injustice. De
Venecia ratting on his boss only after his interminable term has
ended, Enrile inquiring about someone's morality! The already
filthy rich Abalos and Arroyo wanting more money than they or
their great grandchildren could ever spend in a lifetime. Joker
making a joke of his own "pag bad ka, lagot ka!" slogan. Defensor
rendered defenseless. Gen. Razon involved in kidnapping. Security
men providing anything but a sense of security. And it's all
about money, money, money that the average Juan de la Cruz could not even imagine in his dreams. Is it any wonder why our few
remaining decent and hardworking citizens are leaving to go work
in other countries?
And worst of all, we are once again saddled with a power-hungry
president whose addiction has her clinging on to it like barnacle
on a rusty ship. "Love (of power) is blind" takes a whole new
meaning when PGMA time and again turns a blind eye on her
husband's financial deals. And still blinded with all that is
happening, she opts to traipse around the world with her cohorts
in tow while her country is in shambles.
They say the few stupid ones like me who remain in the
Philippines are no longer capable of showing disgust. I don't
agree. Many like me feel anger at the brazenness of men we call
our leaders, embarrassment to share the same nationality with
them, frustration for our nation and helplessness at my own
ineffectuality. It is not that I won't make a stand. It is just
that I am afraid my actions would only be futile. After all,
these monsters are capable of anything. They can hurt me and my
family. They already have, though I may not yet feel it.
But I am writing this because I need to do something concrete. I
need to let others know that ordinary citizens like me do not
remain lukewarm to issues that would later affect me and my
children. I want to make it known that there are also Filipinos
who dream of something better for the Philippines. I want them to
know that my country is not filled with scalawags and crooks in
every corner, and that there are citizens left who believe in
decency, fairness, a right to speak, a right to voice out ideas,
a right to tell the people we have trusted to lead us that they
have abused their power and that it is time for them to step
down. I refuse to let this country go to hell because it is the
only country I call mine and it is my responsibility to make sure
I have done what I could for it.
Those of us who do not have the wealth, power or position it
needs to battle the evil crime lords in the government can summon
the power of good. We can pray. We can do this with our families
every night. We can offer petitions every time we celebrate mass.
We can ask others to pray, too, including relatives and friends
here and overseas. And we can offer sacrifices along with our
petitions, just so we get the message to Him of our desperation
in ridding our nation of these vermin. After all, they cannot be
more powerful than God!
I implore mothers out there to raise your children the best way
you can. Do not smother, pamper, or lavish them with too much of
the material comforts of life even if you can well afford them.
Teach them that there are more important things in this world. I
beg all fathers to spend time with their children, to teach them
the virtues of hard work, honesty, fair play, sharing, dignity
and compassion – right from the sandbox till they are old enough
to go on their own. Not just in your homes, but at work, in
school, everywhere you go. Be good role models. Be shining
examples for your children so they will learn to be responsible
adults who will carry and pass on your family name with pride and
honor.
I call on educators and teachers – we always underestimate the
power of your influence on the minds of our youth. Encourage them to be aware of what is happening in their surroundings. Instill
in them a love of their country, inculcate in them the value of
perseverance in order to gain real, worthwhile knowledge, help us
mold our children into honorable men and women. Encourage our
graduates, our best and brightest, to do what they can to lift
this country from the mire our traditional politicians have sunk
us into. The youth is our future – and it would be largely
because of you, our educators, that we will be able to repopulate
the seats of power with good leaders, presidents, senators,
congressmen, justices, lawmakers, law enforcers and lawful
citizens.
I ask all students, young people and young professionals
Do not let your youth be an excuse for failure to concern
yourselves with the harsh realities you see. But neither let this
make you cynical, because we need your idealism and fresh
perspective just as you need the wisdom of your elders. YOUR
COUNTRY NEEDS YOU! Let your voices be heard. Do what you can this land that gave you your ancestors and your heritage. Use
Text meaningful messages to awaken social conscience. Try your
best to fight moral decay because I promise you will not regret
it when you become parents yourselves. You will look back at your
past misdeeds and pray that your children will do better than you
did.
Remember that there are a few handful who are capable of running
this country. You can join their ranks and make their numbers
greater. We are tired of the old trapos. We need brave idealistic
leaders who will think of the greater good before anything else.
I voted for Atty. Martin Bautista and his team and I sure hope
they will run again. Do your utmost to excel in your chosen
field. Be good lawyers, civil servants, accountants, computer
techs, engineers, doctors, military men so that when you are
called to serve in government, you will have credibility and a
record that can speak for itself.
For love of this country, for the future of our children, for the
many who have sacrificed and died to uphold our rights and
ideals, I urge you to do what you can. As ordinary citizens, we
can do much more for the Philippines than sit around and let
crooks lead us to perdition. We owe ourselves this. And we owe
our country even more.

I recently took the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream flavor test online and it revealed that I'm a CHERRY GARCIA! Wedding Talks
Someone very dear to me is getting married so the wedding-talks surfaced this week. I was asked where my dream-wedding is going to be... I said none. Every girl has a dream-wedding when they reach a certain age but not me... I'm not really into a lavish, grand, or simple weddings. I find it a total waste of money for a celebration that would actually last for a couple of hours. I don't mean to offend anybody who thinks otherwise... It's just my opinion, plain and simple.
I sometimes think weddings are made by people who sells bridal gowns, a part of their marketing strategy. It's suppose to be a happy celebration but I can't understand why people are crying at weddings! yah~yah those were tears of joy like anybody would say but looking at pictures of people who have the I-just-cried look seems far-fetched to me.
I'd rather have my wedding in a secluded place with no other people than us and the person who will officiate it. I never believed of celebrating my union with the person I love with the others and/or people who I barely know.
Although I don't have my dream-wedding I do have my 'dream-honeymoon'!!! Should be romantic and memorable as it can be! I think it's best to commemorate unity with only the person I love. Him and only Me~~~~
