Big Bang Boys

I'm addicted listening to Big Bang. I spent half of the day downloading their songs and watching their music videos and interviews! I even created a special folder just for them which can only mean they're extra special...

I first heard of this group last winter in Korea when a middle school girl I know, kept on asking me "Do you know Big Bang?", and whenever I say no she'll ask "Why-eeee?". She does this everytime we see each other, as if praying I'd finally bump my head and realize that they're the cutest being in the world and 'HOW COULD I NOT KNOW THEM?' I thought there wasn't anything special about this group, just some random Korean boy band who got pretty faces and a little talent paving their way to stardom by wooing middle school and high school girls (their biggest and only market...!). It turns out, I was wrong, so wrong.

I got curious after I first saw them at a New Year Celebration Show on T.V. and they were there to perform together with a lot of popular entertainers. I thought they're super cute and I wanted to see more of them so I started listening to their songs...

I've got a 'gi-normous' crush on G-Dragon (cutie on the left side)! I find him the cutest among the bunch and he's the most talented too. My only complain is that, he tries to be 'cool' too much so he sometimes end up way over-the-top especially with his sense of style. He's got all he needs to be a superstar in his own right and that should be enough. He should stop being "pa-cool" and all that shiz cause it's not workin' (why is it whenever I say 'work' I can't help but think of Tim Gunn.. lol).

The other guy T.O.P (cutie on the right) is familiar to many, cause he did a music video with Sandara Park called 'I'm Sorry'. The said MV didn't excite me and I don't think there's something special about it. My attention just focused on Sandara who is fondly called BOA of the Phil.. It's probably a big honor for Sandy to even be compared to BOA, considering she's super famous in all of Asia and very talented as well. I'm not a fan of BOA but I know how talented she is. That doesn't mean I'm anti-sandy, in fact I kind of like her. And why not? She's a very likeable person. But then again, I remember her song "In or Out" that scarred me for life! There goes the song again, it keeps playing in my head over and over and I just couldn't stop it...

Ok, back to T.O.P., Is it just me or he looks like Edison Chen in this picture? The way I look at this angle, T.O.P. looks very much like the 'hottest-chinese-superstar-no more'. But I have very bad eyesight that needs laser surgery A.S.A.P., so it's probably just me...

If you guys have a few minutes to kill, please check out this link below so you'd understand why I like this group or better yet, G-Dragon so much!

Some random rants about my workout!

So I'm back to the gym and been working out for 2 days! Whew... it wasn't easy as I expected.

Part of the fitness program mentioned by the Instructor is to stop using the elevator, and use the stairs while going up where the gym is located. At first, I thought he's joking cause the place is situated at the top-most floor. But when I realized that he's dead serious, I gasped. It's 15 friggin floors to climb! Even the most physically fit there would break a serious amount sweat to get to the top...

Like any obedient student, I did what I was told to do. I took a deep breath and started to climb. The first 4 floors was a breeze but lactic acid started to build up and it got difficult from there. I was gasping hard for air on the 7th and 8th floor and had to stop on the 10th cause I feel like I'm about to have a heart attack. I took the elevator from there, then finally showed my tired and sweaty face in the room.

I was already exhausted even before I stepped on the treadmill. What drained me more is the Iranian guy beside me who has some serious odor issue going on that made breathing thru my nose almost impossible! He smelled like duped socks mixed with rotten fruits and fresh chilis on the side. I don't have anything against Iranians for that matter, it's just that this person's case is 'unique'.

After a long and excruciating 15 minutes, I took a shower then moved to the sauna room. I accidentally slept there for a little less than 10 minutes while the temperature is at 57 degrees!

I was so tired when I got out of the building... so tired that I can barely move my legs so it took me 15 minutes to walk home instead of the usual 8.

"From where you are" by Lifehouse

I feel inspired to write about a particular song "From where you are" sung by one of my favorite band, Lifehouse.

In my previous post dated 11.1.08, I wrote about 'Soundtrack of my life'. This post is all about the songs I would like to play if I ever make a movie about my life. I included the song "From where you are" for the nostalgic scene.

You know how a song reminds you of someone or something, and you feel a special kind of feeling just by listening to it? This song means a lot to me, as it clearly expresses my 'longing-ness' for my father who died last year and I'm feeling all sort of emotion whenever I hear it. Let the lyrics explain how I feel deep inside....

So far away from where you are
These miles have torn us worlds apart
And I miss you
Yeah, I miss you
So far away from where you are
Standing underneath the stars
And I wish you were here

I miss the years that were erased
I miss the way the sunshine would light up your face
I miss all the little things I never thought that they’d mean everything to me
Yeah, I miss you
And I wish you were here

I feel the beating of your heart
I see the shadows of your face
Just know that wherever you are
Yeah, I miss you
And I wish you were here

I miss the years that were erased
I miss the way the sunshine would light up your face
I miss all the little things
I never thought that they’d mean everything to me
Yeah, I miss you
And I wish you were here

So far away from where you are
These miles have torn us worlds apart
And I miss you
Yeah, I miss you
And I wish you were here

This song is currently on repeat mode and I don't know how long till I get tired of listening to it.

All about Tofu

I just finished eating taho (silken tofu) for 'merienda'. It was really good! I haven't eaten taho for the longest time so I forgot how good it actually tasted.

While eating, it sort of reminded me of sundubu chigae which happens to be one of my favorite korean dish. I miss eating my korean comfort food!

I'm big on tofu, be it soft, hard, boiled or fried. But in filipino cuisine, I only have a few number of tofu dishes to try. I'm now thinking of ways to incorporate tofu in our everyday dishes. Not only is it delicious but there are numerous health benefits that goes beyond the taste!

Gym woes

It's official, I'm going back to the gym today after a long vacation! I just got off the phone with the front desk officer and renewed my membership for another month. No if's, no but's, no qualms...

My target is to lose 20 lbs. It's what I gained for the last 2 years. Slowly but surely, I'm losing weight but 20 lbs seems like a long and painful journey ahead...

I've already given up fastfood and I don't eat chocolates that often anymore. I switched to low-fat milk and I'm eating my good ol' breakfast like what my mom always say. I just need to make a habit of eating fruits and vegetables.

Now that I'm going back to the gym, I'm worried about experiencing those terrible, terrible muscle aches again. At one point before, I couldn't lift a shampoo bottle from the floor cause my arms hurt so much. I also didn't dare to laugh cause my abdominal muscles are strained as well. The worst part of it all is getting up in the morning feeling sore all-over!

But for my well-being, it's worth it. If it guarantees I'd live longer, then bring it on (I sounded like a 'tough-ie' when I said that!).

I just can't help but feel envious to those people who don't need a workout all their life. A good example is my mom... she can eat anything she wants and not gain a single weight! But that is just not my case

Analyzing 'Labels'

Everywhere we turn we see, eat, wear and live with labels. We have our favorite "brands" in foods, clothes, and even personal titles.

What is in a label name? Does it mean cost, prestige, quality, personal preference or is it even related to how we feel not only about ourselves but also others around us? If we purchase branded clothes do they make us look better, feel better or just cost more? Do others look at us and say they are wearing really expensive clothes they must have a lot of money? Maybe think that we are too good to associate with or on the other end of the spectrum, not good enough. If we eat off-brand food does that mean we are cheap, poor or just frugal?

In our personal lives and relationships labels abound like family, friends, aquaintances, associates and co-workers. If we tighten the circle in to those very close to us we may have the "oldest", "middle" or "baby" in the family, the "spoiled brat" or the "lost" soul. We may have a "husband/wife", "girlfriend/"boyfriend","significant other"/"partner" or "best friend".

Do these "personal" labels show the level of commitment or importance to our family, friends or "loved ones"? Or are they just useless letters used to form a word that shows no significance whatsoever? Would it make a difference in how you feel? Would it make a difference in how others would feel, treat or look at you? Would it matter at all? Or bigger question yet, should it?

Sad news

I heard a sad news today about a person I know and hated so much before, stricken with cancer. I got into a little fight with him about 6 years ago. The reason was petty, just blown out of proportion by his gossip-lovin gf. Too many things happened with those 6 long years and I finally found a place in my heart to forgive them for all the bad things they brought me.

He's already in stage 4 and currently in palliative care in a big hospital in Manila. A person I knew visited him today. He has gotten so much worse from the last time he visited our house a few months ago, I was told. But he's really optimistic and is so looking forward to having his operation in a few weeks. He thinks, 3 days after the operation, he can be discharged from the hospital.

I only know some things about the big C, my grandfather succumbed to this deadly disease when I was young and stage 4 means his cancer already metastasized and his time is almost up.

But God is Good. He's a great healer, and miracles await to those who have strong faith in him. And if death is really His will, then we should accept it whole-heartedly and be thankful for the life he has given us. One of the things I learned when my father died last year, is that death isn't such a bad thing. God has given my father a complete cure and rest from his illness that debilitated him for a long time. It's sad that I wont be seeing him for the rest of my life however, he was granted eternal peace and is now in a much better place not aching and suffering from any illness.

I salute my old friend for being optimistic and still not losing hope inspite of all the pain. In my heart, I sincerely wish he will get better but if it's not the case, I wish he'd have a little more time to spend with his children because they are going to miss him when he's gone.

Things like this reminds me that we are not immortal and we are liable as to how we will spend our lifetime. "Make each day count" is now an adage I'm trying to live by...

Under the weather

The weather is awful today, rain is so strong that it's impossible to get out. I dread the thunders that keeps getting stronger and stronger.

I need to get out, I feel cramped and suffocated. I wanna do something else besides staring infront of the computer and lying in my bed. Who knew taking too much rest can be tiring as well.

I'm fighting this urge to get my jacket and go out. My mom is going to be hysterical if I go out in a weather like this. Besides, the traffic is so bad right now, I might just get stuck in the middle of nowhere. I'm just feeling 'melancholic' that's all and wanna be some place quiet to jog. Yes, I like jogging while I'm in deep thought.

Or should I just head out to a quiet coffee shop nearby? But I know people have issues about being alone. Like if I enter a place without a book or a laptop and just stay there for a while, people stare, they start to gossip. I remember a scene from Sex and the City and SJP is talking about books being an armor whenever she's out and not with her friends. In my case, I hate reading outside the premises of home. I have a very short attention span when it comes to reading books (but I love reading them!) so I need to be confined in my room to be able to do so because people roaming around, chatting about their new conquest, or just plain bad-mouthing someone absent is just too distracting for me. Tinkering with laptops while drinking coffee sounds more acceptable. I can spend the whole day in front of the computer regardless whether there are people roaming around or not. But I'm not a busy person, nor do I have a project which needs to be finished. I don't have any reason to do stuff with computers outside, got plenty of time to waste at home.. It's just plain wrong. But then again, it's my business so who cares if I do so?

Good thing I'm meeting my friends tomorrow. I just hope the skies will be clearer by then.

I'm sorry

aghast with a memory
i tumbled from your side
pointed a finger of doubt
for some mistaken thought
how much you loved me
understood each childish act
no one ever stood afront
keeping me in his heart

i am sorry for again
if i may say the least
for making your heart bleed
im sorry my love.....

Smart a** answers

Everyone needs a good dose of humor... here's mine.

Smart Ass Answer ..5:
A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets.
As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened his trench coat and flashed at her.
Without missing a beat....she said, "Sir, I need to see your ticket not your stub."

Smart Ass Answer ..4:
A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but she couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked a stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?"
The stock boy replied, "No ma'am, they're dead."

Smart Ass Answer ..3:
The cop got out of his car and the kid who was stopped for speeding rolled down his window.
"I've been waiting for you all day," the cop said. The kid replied, "Yeah, well I got here as fast as I could."
When the cop finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his way without a ticket.

Smart Ass Answer ..2:
A truck driver was driving along on the freeway. A sign comes up that reads, "Low Bridge Ahead."
Before he knows it, the bridge is right ahead of him and he gets stuck under the bridge.
Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car comes up.
The cop gets out of his car and walks to the truck driver, puts his hands on his hips and says,
"Got stuck, huh?" The truck driver says, "No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of gas."

SMART ASS ANSWER OF THE YEAR
A college teacher reminds her class of tomorrow's final exam. "Now class, I won't tolerate any excuses for you not being here tomorrow. I might consider a nuclear attack or a serious personal injury or illness, or a death in your immediate family, but that's it, no other excuses whatsoever!" A smart ass guy in the back of the room raised his hand and asked, "What would you say if tomorrow I said I was suffering from complete and utter sexual exhaustion?"
The entire class is reduced to laughter and snickering. When silence was restored, the teacher smiled knowingly at the student, shaking her head and sweetly said "Well, I guess you'd have to write the exam with your other hand."

Ouch!

Had fever from yesterday! I just can't stop moping about my joint and muscle aches. Are these 'terrible' signs of aging or just simple symptoms that goes with fever? I felt like I need to exercise to feel better and to shake off the pain so I went on a 3 hour walking-spree this morning (exercising while having a fever to feel better is a myth my family believes in). I arrived home at 1 pm tired, thirsty, and hungry. Then I felt dizzy, so dizzy that I need to lie down. Soon after, my body's temp just got higher and higher. I normally don't take paracetamol but this time I had to. I feel much better now at 38.7 degrees... But the aches and pains are still there and it makes climbing stairs feels like hell...

awake

It's pretty late and should be in bed but I'm still wide awake and munching on these Clover Chips. I'm having difficulty in sleeping at night and if ever I fall asleep on time, I tend to wake up in the middle of the night which really bugs me cause I can't go back to sleep anymore. Because of this weird sleeping habit, I feel restless and tired in the morning. I tried skipping coffee and taking a mid-day nap but it didn't make any difference. Now, I had to buy eye-cream which I never did before, to help lessen these pesky dark circles under my eyes. Zits are also spurting from nowhere eventhough I'm way past my teens. I should sought professional help asap! But I'm quite anxious to take sleeping pills for their numerous side effects. I recently heard of a story wherein the woman took sleeping pills and ended up sleeping for four days. And then there's this famous celebrity who took pills and ended up dead in his apartment. His death was highly publicized although the cause is still in limbo (whether it's from sleeping pill overdose or just plain drug binge). It could just be plain coincidence but nevertheless, sleeping pills are really dangerous so I'm quite adamant taking it.

Akon-ic

It's damn retarded that Akon recently made a pact to leave U.S. and return to Africa if John McCain wins the presidential election! Hate it when celebrities make dumb promises like this.

I'm a big Akon fan though I'm yet to memorize the lyrics of his songs. I think he's very talented justified by his fast ascend to stardom among other brooding artists. And although I don't have any inkling about the elections (except for Obama being slightly ahead of McCain by several points), it's sad to see someone betting on it. I just hope he'll keep his word if McCain really wins.

~~~
Since I'm writing a post about Akon, I suddenly have this urge to hear 'Bartender.' I wonder why...
Artsy-partsy
Aren't this poodle adorable? I like how trendy and fashionable poodles are these days. They come in all shapes and sizes donning multi-colored fur.
We once had poodles we named Summer and Winter. But they got sick so we had to give them away to a family friend. I haven't seen them since then. I surely miss those two cuddly poodles! I'm hoping one of these days I'd get to take care of pet dog again, but our apartment owner doesn't allow pets inside the building. Bummer, I know....
Missin every1
I miss my friends... I've been busy... they've been busy. I'll be seeing them soon.
With Jhoie... the no-nonsense gurl who I play billiards with everyday till my 'kili-kili' hurts. Badette who likes freshening up with powder and tinkering with my eyeshadow. Dhon who never fails to laugh at my jokes... KC wearing the blue band, well she's the one I did blood compact with... and Jeannie beanie, she always keep the party rollin.. miss you guys and see you soon.
